LGBTQIA+

For nearly 40 years, PEPS has been providing opportunities for new parents to build community and find support through programs and events. Families have shared their highs and lows of parenting and have connected during their many weeks together and sometimes, beyond that!

Many families have expressed to us a desire to meet and connect with families who share identities that intersect with their identity as parents and caregivers. We have been listening and recognize the need for this form of connection.

Since November 2020, PEPS has been offering an online peer-support series for LGBTQIA+ families. This is a 12-week series designed specifically for local parents and caregivers who identify as LGBTQIA+, caring for children ages 0-12 months, to build community and find support. Each week, there will be a discussion topic facilitated by a PEPS Group Leader trained in inclusive facilitation and time for socializing and connection.

“Meeting other parents who share the same affinity was important to us because it helped normalize our family structure and it also helped Carmen see … that there's all different types of families made of all different types of parent structures and family structures.”
