Grandparent Brown Bag Lunch (June 2019)

We look forward to welcoming you at our Grandparent Brown Bag Lunch on Tuesday, June 11, 12-2 pm

Location: PEPS South Seattle, 2200 Rainier Ave S, Seattle, WA 98144

Topic: Books as mirrors and windows

Join us in a stimulating and practical conversation about using children's literature first to provide mirrors and windows to the world and second as an opportunity to engage children in courageous conversations about potentially challenging topics. We will look at  children's books for all ages, learn how to use children's books as a provocation for  conversations as well as how to instill a love and joy for reading. We will share some of our favorite children's books growing up and why they were so memorable.

Presenter: Debbie LeeKeenan, Early Childhood Consultant and Lecturer, Co-author of ‘Leading Anti-bias Early Childhood Programs: A Guide for Change’, former preschool and elementary school teacher, and Grandparent to three grandchildren. For more information about Debbie’s work and resources see her website.

Come and bring a friend to celebrate being a grandparent, and meet & mingle with other grandparents in our area in an informal and relaxed setting.
