Samantha Novak

Samantha Novak (she/her) works on a variety of different areas to help ensure that PEPS has the resources necessary to fully deliver on our mission. She is passionate about offering a way for people to make the change they want to see in the world. Samantha believes that back office and support tasks being done well has immeasurable impact on the ability for organizations to make their optimal impact. She is excited to be the Development Manager at PEPS, which includes work on the annual fundraising event, as well as annual giving and direct mail. Prior to working at PEPS she worked in development and database management in another Seattle nonprofit, along with a variety of nonprofit positions and Alaska tourism jobs.

Outside of PEPS: Samantha grew up in the great state of Alaska, where she danced, kayaked, hiked, and spent a lot of time with her nose in a book. Her childhood was incredibly enriched by a wide range of chosen family, including a group of four families that celebrated Christmas Eve together for more than twenty years, and neighbors that felt more like cousins. She has strong opinions about salmon varieties, views owning a chest freezer as her personal marker of adulthood, and can tell you a little too much about Alaska from multiple summers as a tour guide on the railroad.

She has lived in Seattle for the last ten years and loves spending time cooking, spoiling her jumbo sausage mutt Heidi, and playing board games. She and her partner also sail, camp, and have people over for dinner.

Education: Samantha has a bachelors in global studies with a minor in nonprofit administration from Arizona State University. She also earned a master's in public administration from the Evans School of the University of Washington.

Favorite quote: "I wanted a perfect ending. Now I've learned, the hard way, that some poems don't rhyme, and some stories don't have a clear beginning, middle, and end. Life is about not knowing, having to change, taking the moment and making the best of it, without knowing what's going to happen next. Delicious Ambiguity." — Gilda Radner
