Parenting an adolescent comes with what may seem like endless changes and challenges. The moments of closeness you may have experienced with your child when they were a baby are now replaced with kids who are seeking autonomy from the family unit and prioritizing friends and peers. At the same time, they are experiencing major developmental changes in their brain and body. Families are often pondering questions like how to support children as they navigate friends, school, and mental health, with far fewer clear-cut answers. 

Through our Parents of Adolescents and Teens (PAT) Program, we strive to provide the support, resources, and connection critical to navigating this parenting stage. Experience our program in a quick and interactive online workshop, tailored for parents and caregivers of middle schoolers (ages 10 - 14), and led by trained facilitators on how we can talk – and listen! – to effectively communicate with adolescents.

Parents and caregivers will have the opportunity to sample the PAT Program through participation in connection activities, discussions, and breakout sessions. Participants will learn and gather tools and tactics on how to practice active listening and effective communication. We hope you will learn and leave inspired to join a PAT Group and to host a group or workshop in your school and community! 

Event Details

What: A virtual workshop led by PEPS Group Leaders. Facilitators from our PAT Program will guide conversations on one of our PAT Program core topics, ‘Effectively Communicating with Adolescents’.

After an introduction of the topic, time will be dedicated to attendees participating in facilitated breakout rooms for small-group discussions.

Who: The presentation and discussion will be tailored for parents and caregivers of children aged 10-14.

When: Tuesday, March 28, 2023, from 12 - 1 pm. Please note that this workshop will not be recorded.
