ADJUSTING TO PARENTHOOD
Starting March 15, 2013 PEPS and Postpartum Support Int’l of WA are offering a twice monthly group, offering parents additional support for the emotional changes and challenges of adapting to parenthood. >> Learn More
Orientations are designed for expectant and new parents who are not yet placed in a PEPS group. Orientations are a fun way to meet other parents and parents-to-be in your area. Each session offers a chance to sample the PEPS experience with other curious parents, as you talk about the experience of pregnancy and early parenthood, while learning and supporting others.
You are welcome to come during pregnancy or before adoption, or after the baby is born. Of course, you are very welcome to bring your baby along.
Orientations are encouraged but not mandatory to sign up for a PEPS group.
What parents are saying about PEPS Orientation
"It was great to have a chance to talk to other pregnant women about how our pregnancies are going, and to get tips from them, and from the new moms in the room about how to make it through these last few weeks. I also liked being able to get all my questions about PEPS answered."
"It was very helpful to learn more about PEPS, but as a new parent of a six week old baby, it was also just great for me to get out of the house and be around other parents for a little while, and get support, ideas, and encouragement."
"We went to orientation when I was still pregnant; about half of the families there had already had their babies - they were 8 days to 2 months old. My husband and I loved the chance to just watch them interacting with their babies - we'd never really been around such young babies before."
Please note: There is currently a Pertussis (Whooping Cough) epidemic in Washington State. We require all adults registering for PEPS Groups to verify that they are current on the Tdap booster. However, PEPS orientations do not require pre-registration and there may be people in attendance who have not had the booster, just as there may be in any public place. Anyone with cold symptoms should not attend PEPS Orientations. If you have questions, please contact PEPS Program Director, Mary Power, at maryp@peps.org.
Orientation Schedule
PEPS Orientations are offered several times a month, during the day and evening, at several locations around King County.
