Grandparent Brown Bag Lunch (December 2018)
We look forward to welcoming you at our Grandparent Brown Bag Lunch on Thursday, December 6, 12-1:30 pm
Location: Community room at Patent 523 Apartments in Capitol Hill, 523 Broadway E, Seattle, WA 98102
Topic: Grandparenting: How to be exactly the kind of grandparent your family needs
Grandparents have a tremendous impact on the families their children create. As new parents navigate their transition into parenthood, they not only need to build a relationship with their babies and figure out what parent they want to be; they also are often needing to reorient their relationship with their own parents. This process can be confusing for new parents and grandparents. Come learn about the important role you play, how to best support new parents and your new grandbaby, and figure out how to gracefully transition into this wonderful new role. We will explore just how important a grandparent’s role is for their adult children’s and grandchildren’s mental health and how they can positively contribute to a healthy beginning of their children’s new families.
Presenter: Shanna Donhauser of Happy Nest, Psychotherapist, Infant and Early Childhood Mental Health Specialist
