"It was helpful to be with others who were dealing with an infant and toddler at the same time. It was nice to see that my frustrations were normal, and to hear different ideas for how to deal with them."

"I loved getting together with other parents who "get it" when I talk about the challenges of my day!"

ADJUSTING TO PARENTHOOD

PEPS and Postpartum Support Int’l of WA are offers a twice monthly group, offering parents additional support for the emotional changes and challenges of adapting to parenthood. >> Learn More

Second Time Around Groups are a place where parents meet, share, and learn in volunteer-facilitated sessions. Each meeting includes time for sharing parenting highs and lows, followed by a group discussion on a subject related to the adventure of parenting two children.

Meetings also include break time for informal socializing and connecting with other new parents. Meetings may include time for singing songs to the babies, or learning about games to play.

Second Time Around groups are for families who have 2 or more children, an older child and a newborn baby (aged 0 - 4 months when the Group begins).  One parent attends the group with only the baby. If you have 2 children under the age of 3, and would like to attend with both, try our Little Peppers group.

Cost

  • $155 per family for an eleven-week program. (spring, fall, or winter quarter)

Payment is due at time of registration.

Your payment can be refunded if you cancel at least three weeks before the group begins. If a group does not meet its minimum enrollment, as rarely happens, we will cancel it - in this case, you could either choose a different group to attend, or receive a full refund.

To apply for a scholarship: Fill out the registration form, then email our Program Coordinator, Cari Morales (carim@peps.org), before making payment so that your scholarship application can be reviewed and the scholarship amount applied.

Scholarships

PEPS is committed to serving every family who wishes to join our community. We happily provide scholarships, supported by our generous donors. Scholarships are income-based, and typically cover amounts equal to 25%-75% of tuition fees, with full scholarships in special situations. So, even if you don't think of yourself as "low income," if the regular fee is going to be a stretch for you financially, please apply for a scholarship.

Second Time Around versus Newborn Groups or Little Peppers

Second Time Around is site-based, meeting at the same location every week and designed for seasoned parents to attend with just their newborn. Some experienced parents wish to be in a group with others who are juggling the demands of multiple children

Newborn Groups are hosted at participants' homes and the majority of parents in are first-timers. Some experienced parents choose a regular Newborn Group, and find that they enjoy the interaction with first-time parents, and the opportunity to share their "expertise" with fresh, new parents.

Little Peppers provides an opportunity for parents to attend a group with two children under the age of three. Parents bring both children to the group, which is a fun social opportunity for the toddlers/pre-schoolers, but makes for a loud and high-energy meeting. Some parents love this, and some prefer the relative calm of a Second Time Around Group, which is typically more conducive in-depth discussions.
