Development Assistant

Chiaki Ota Weatherford

Chiaki is thrilled to join the PEPS team as a Development Assistant. She supports the PEPS Fund Development team tasked with advancing the PEPS development plan and gift stewardship. Her background includes database management, analysis, and reporting.

With her own experience as a first-time parent in the country/culture far from her own, Chiaki is a big believer in building connections between families, and finding own community where you can feel safe to be who you are, and share the joys and challenges of being a parent in this modern diverse world. What could be better than starting off new parents with a great sense of community and lots of Highs & Lows?

Her first experience with PEPS was in 2010 when she and her husband joined an evening PEPS group, which still meets every 2 weeks, hosts annual summer retreat, and provides on-going support to each other.

Outside of PEPS: Chiaki [/chee-AH-kee/] grew up in Nagoya, Japan. After working in Tokyo for 3 years, she moved to Seattle in 2001 with a dream of working oversea as a professional. She has been enjoying the beautiful PNW and an adventure of a lifetime ever since. She lives in NE Seattle with her husband, two bi-lingual daughters, and seven chickens (hoping to add a couple of cats to our family soon!). She is a master composter, baker, accordion player, potter, craft master, and beginning carpenter.

Education: Chiaki earned her Master degree in Information Science from JAIST (Japan Advanced Institute of Science and Technology), Ishikawa, Japan, and has Bachelors of Law from Shizuoka University in Japan.
