2017 July

Hi PEPS friends,

Can you believe it’s almost August? As this summer flies by, my family finds ourselves officially out of “baby territory.” My youngest is walking now! Between that milestone and all of the sudden having a kindergartner, I am trying to slow down and enjoy every moment.

PEPS is working through some developmental stages as well! We are eyeballs deep in a large video production project that will enhance the level of training and support we provide to our awesome group leaders. We are also in the middle of some intensive learning and analysis work with our board and staff around racial equity. And our new Community Connectors are making so many meaningful connections, it is already hard to remember life at PEPS before they were here.

Thank you to all of you for your PEPS love and support. I encourage you to step outside, get some sunshine, and soak up some of the great insights and resources shared in this newsletter.

Until next time,

Jessica

Kristin Kali and MAIA Midwifery and Fertility, an Interview

It's easier than ever to lead a PEPS Group

PEPS has overhauled its leader guide, using more effective layout, clearly visible prompts, bullets and sidebars to highlight key ideas. "New leaders won't have to spend time 'studying' the guide, so they can spend more time with the parents and babies."

Who will you meet in your PEPS Group?

Consider this: you're put together with 8-10 parents. You have one thing in common - needing to figure out this parenthood thing with kids of similar age. Maybe there won't be someone who you click with, but maybe there will!

Mom in Translation: A Bitter Taste of Honey

"It was such a tiny drop of honey, nothing more than a symbolic gesture. But everyone we spoke to outside our community remained firm - how could we risk our baby's life?" Read more from this ParentMap story here.

What's Next?: The Pressure to Have Another Baby

"But the question keeps coming. The world wants to know: "When are you having the next one?" I grit my teeth and shrug." Read more from PEPS mom Jessica Towns in this new post.

Ways to Spend Quality Family Time with Children of Any Age

"During quality time, you put aside worries or concerns and bring your whole self to the interaction. As much as possible, you don't answer the phone, look at text messages, talk to others, or give in to distractions." Bright Horizons shares ideas for quality time with infants to school-age kids!
